Well ive noticed lately, that my aqua c remora skimmer has bin like trickleing out, and the cup hasnt really bin filling up, so i took it off and cleaned the hell outta it, and now its pumping away,

how often do you guys wait b4 removeing and cleaning with like a hose

i took it out side and shot the hose in the inlet, some nasty stuff came out, then i ran r/o water in it to get the water from the hoes out.

lol

what do you guys think?

I clean my AquaC EV120 collection cup and neck every week, clean the air injector every month and clean the whole thing about every 2 months or so:)

I do mine every 2 months. I would do it every month but the only way to get it out is to remove the sump and I'm just not going thru that once a month.
Don't forget about your main pump, like I did, it needs a good cleaning every month or so. Otherwise one day you'll turn it off and it won't turn back on. :(

Cup and neck twice weekly (sometimes more), air intake/fittings weekly, pump every few months. Main body/housing, never.

Cheers
Steve

Kind of depends on how much waste you pull out ie how hard you are working the skimmer. If you are getting a good nasty cup full a day then you would clean more than if just pulling the same nasty cup full a week. It all depends on your system and husbandry I would think. I have not cleaned skimmerstein's body yet but clean the cup and neck about every second dump. The body does need to be cleaned now though and been running maybe a month.

Though I don't own an AquaC skimmer (I have a CPR 2R+) I clean it out about once a month. I just did a major clean out of my tank (40Br) which includes taking the skimmer apart running it in vinegar solution and tooth brushing it. Seeing the skimmer now doing it's thing I want to kick myself for waiting this long (been lazy... 3 months) to do this!

thanks guys, the jet was very glogged, and i needed to be cleaned. now shes cleaning away.

i wounder if this caused some of my problems

cleaning the spray nozzle on the aquaC frequently as well as the collection cup will help keep it performing well.

Welcome to RF Bouke285!!! For some reason that name sounds familiar:p Welcome back man...Got that 300gal yet???:D

I have a 1 gallon waste collector that i empty once every week and a half because it fills up that quick. its always a dark green and it smells frickin horendous. I clean the skimmer itself about once every two weeks and the injector once a month.

I have never cleaned any of my pumps but now that you guys are mentioning it i will have to look into it seeing as how my pump is the only thing circulating my tank.

Nick

I clean collection cup and neck twice a week.
The whole skimmer I remove every 2-3 months and run in vinager in the sink. A gallon of vinager is cheap cleaner.
