my skimmer for some reason stoped skimming , it's a asm baby g1, at first i thought that the microbubbles that were coming from the tube that is connected from the side where the skimmer is attached were causing it to do this, but it's not .
I cleaned the pump and the air tubing thingy and it's not working still.
I recently added a phosban reactor to the sump, do you think it could be that? sometimes it makes the bubbles inside but it's not getting any foam and sometimes it doesn't do anything.
I'm getting worried here doods.

Hey Gabbs...Maybe your tank is just that clean:D (LOL) When you set the skimmer back up, did you by any chance mess with the air injector valve (if it uses one) and accidentally closed it? If not, have you added any chemicals to the tank recently (not the phosban) that could be causing the skimmer to shut down? Remember just by simply putting your hand in the tank will shut down the skimmer from the oil in your skin, but not enough to make it never start back up unless you leave your hands in there all day:p

lol no dood i don't go swimming with them all day long ... i know they want me to but i refuse :D .
no quemicals added, i cleaned the air injector (not a valve but a tuve), the pump even the skimmer and still it won't work:(.

Maybe it needs adjusting. I know when I use to give my AquaC EV-120 a good cleaning, I'd have to re-adjust everything and sometimes it wouldn't produce any skimmate for a few days and sometimes it would just spit water for a few days. Maybe you should see what Mark suggests:)

"simply putting your hand in the tank will shut down the skimmer"

how long we talking, a day or a few days?

maybe you should give it a little more time,

and stay outta the tank swimmer,

i was hoping he'd chime in :p .

LOL....the husband put his hand only 2 times in the sump and it was just to adjust the skimmer .

Hmmm...That's a long time. Well, I heard through the grape vine you were going to do your water change now, so it will be a little while longer before you see skimmate now seeing your hand will be in the tank:p Hopefully Mark will chime in soon though...He may know what's going on:)

Has anything else in the tank changed? What happened just before it quit skimming? Does the flow coming out of the riser tube seem to be as much water as ever? The fact that there's not always micro bubbles inside the body of the skimmer makes me think you're having a failure in the "air getting into the needle wheel" area. You said you cleaned the tube, what about where it attaches to the pump?

I vote for air not getting into the pump, and finding out why not.

I agree with Jason which is why I asked if the air valve was closed earlier (if it uses one). If so, the line may be pinched, the air valve may be bad (if it uses one) and you can maybe just pull the air valve off altogether just to test it and allow it to suck in a lot of air through an open tube. :)

BTW, do they use air valves???

I can't believe I just contributed to getting off topic. No less, I STARTED it!

I'm so ashamed. :)

ROFL! It's Gabby's thread so it doesn't count. You're good:lol: I'm sure she appreciates the feedback as well as the entertainment:D

Gaby,
You say that your skimmer sometimes makes bubbles and then sometimes not... Do you mean that there are no bubbles at all in the skimmer when this happens? If so, then I most definitely agree that there’s something wrong with how your skimmers getting air. Do you hear air being sucked in through the air inlet tube? Maybe the aspirator part of the pump (where the air inlet tube connects to) could use a good soaking in vinegar.

well let's see :p ...... in the tank nothing has changed more than i'm not using one of my tooth brushes to hold my lights :p .
yes there's more water coming out of the riser tubing thingy (the one where the sponge is right?).
I cleaner all the parts, the pump, the tube, even the big tube where it connects.
if the air is not getting into the pump, what can i do to help it to go into the pump :p ?

yes dood or sometimes there's bubbles but where the foam forms... it looks like soda water :p .

Do you hear air being sucked in through the air inlet tube?

no but if i put my finger, i feel air being sucked :p .

i could try the vinegar part because i only cleaned them with water and with one of the cleaner thingys for the babies bottles (the bottles that Olivia has came with a sort of look a like pipe cleaner :p and i use one of them to clean my stuff  )

LMBO!!! awesome dood !!! welcome to the club  .
Krish is right.... everyone can talk about anything in my threads .....even toilet talk :D .... it helps me to feel better and forget about the issue   :D

With more water than usual coming out of the skimmer seems to indicate to me that less air is being introduced into the pump. Meaning the pump is pumping more water than a mixture of water and air, which would seem to indicate that there’s some form of air blockage. I’d say give the soaking a try. :)
