Skimmer mod. Check it out!

Ive got a ultra crappy coralife skimmer and thought I'd see if I could maybe improve the performance a little. Its a needle skimmer and I used some fishing line to make a mesh style mod. It didn't make the pump any louder and it seems to be working. Im not sure if there is any improvement on performance yet as its only been up a few minutes.

Yeah it does! I would get some real mesh and you will see a BIG difference.

maybe i'll try this, though my skimmers, i have 2 css skimmers, a 220, and a 65 and both have done pretty well for me, how is yours set up?

perfect! now your ready for enkamat mesh, even better still than the "spiderweb".
also, that might work a little better if you made the way you wrap the fishing line a little more random, instead of just in the middle of the 2 pin layers.

I have one of those crappy css125 and a octopus recirculating rps-2000 that both need a mesh mod, but I'm worried about cutting up my impeller. Does anyone know if I can just buy one already done?

I think if you take your impeller in to barrier Reef on the weekends, you can have it "professionally" modded if you're affraid of doing it yourself. The price seems reasonable too.
