Its a used skimmer, but looked in good condition. I think that it is something wrong with the way I have it set up. Please help me out. Thanks.

I put it in a tub of vinegar and water, its not making any foam...or even bubbles.

Am I not doing something right? Or should I not worry...since Im not using saltwater?

I do have one theory...please confirm or deny:

I broke this off by mistake when unscrewing the circulation line:

To repair I simply put a bead of glue around the tip, and then a layer of silicone around that. I didnt snap a shot...but believe me..its air tight. I blew into the line after 24hours of drying and covered the top of the unit...its a solid seal. Air goes in fine. However when I plug it in...

water rises all the way to the top of the line...I thought this line was so Air could feed down into the pump...but it does not draw air...it simply fills the line even with the water level in the chamber.

Id say its a safe bet Ive done something wrong...but I don't see how since the state of the airline is practically the same. Maybe I can order a piece that can repair it. Any Ideas?

Is it also possible that this is in fact a dry skimmer? perhaps the guy who sold it to me was wrong. He said it could do both.

so, an octo 200 recirc... :) ...same company.
glad it's working properly...
fwiw, you can mesh mod the impellar on those and get quite a decent performance increase, and the stock venturi is pretty small and crappy too, but just replacing the air post (the piece that broke off) with a larger one and boaring out the rest of the venturi to as large as you can without drilling though the existing hole will make a big difference.

AWesome!! ok I got about half that. Ill repeat....
The peice I broke off: the air post...I drill that out. its the white tube as far as I understand.

I havent opened up inside to look at the pump so Im not sure what you are talking about when you say "rest of the venturi". It would be cool if you had some photos. Or maybee if you re-word it I can understand better.
