Currently using beckett and mazzei injector, both very good skimmer injector. Pinwheel is now becoming popular also. Gotta get my hands on that pinwheel skimmer =).

Pin wheels are weak, not as efficient as others, but easier to maintain & reliable. I'd give serious thought to the airstone.

Darn, as soon as I read Mojo's post I ran out and bought a Lees airstone skimmer...wish I would have noticed he was kidding..........

pin wheel asm g2. venturi driven skimmers require big pumps that use alot of electricity. my asm draws more out with 35w than my previous skimmers at 75-100w. just food for thought. i switched to the low wattage equipment when i seen my utility bills in the summer.

When I first saw the title I was wondering what the heck a skimmer pole was? I was thinking maybe a ginormously tall skimmer in a pole shape???

Uhm, currently using a Deltec AP702, which is the best overall skimmer I've ever used. I've tried pretty much everything in the past. I must admit on the airstone note that I once had a 6"x48" quad airstone unit driven by a tetra luft or 2 (can't remember if I used both, but I know I had two), and that DID produce some real, real nice foam, but I had to change the airstones incessantly, the vibratory noise on the lufts drove me buggy, and I seem to remember having to change flappers on the air pumps regularly too which was annoying. With regular maintenance it was a great skimmer though. I had it fed via an overflow "T", so it was probably really, really energy effecient, but I don't remember what a tetra luft draws.
Becketts IMO still draw the most raw air, but at a cost in terms of pump size/electrical consumption and it's tough to get nice fine bubbles IME, but you can get a copious amount of skimmate for sure.

Moonpod alot has changed with that technology now. The stones are ultra fin pore now and made from heat bonded glass. and the pump are continiuos duty and only have to be re diaphramed every year. On the beckett and air, they are a good unit no dought but even with my airpump cut in half I still push twice as much air through it. Right now its all about how long the stones will go before I have to clean them, the tech guy says he has folks that have had them go for years, lol I will be happy with 6 months.

Well, keep the folks posted. I would imagine though if this pans out, that maybe Precision Marine is about to hit the jackpot b/c they are probably the only major skimmer maker out there that's still got air driven CC units.
