Skimmer Problem

I just added a 10 gallon sump to my reef tank so that I can grow some algae. I'm using a cpr overflow and a cpr bakpak skimmer. I have added an airstone to the skimmer and was getting lots of skimmage until I added the sump. Am now getting nothing for the last 2-3 days. My water level is about 1/2" higher then before so I adjusted the skimmer pump a little higher with no change. Anyone have some input on this? Could it be it's not skimming yet because of the new water. The nitrates are too high at 10ppm need to resolve fast will be doing a water changes tomorrow

Is the skimmer adjustment all the way closed? Id the pump at the recommended depth?

I have tryied many different airflow adjustments. Have also tried messing with the depth of the pump. I'll try to get the exact depth off of cpr's site.
