skimmers

my tank has been running for a few months now without a skimmer. Is it possible to keep corals and anemones without having a protein skimmer provided that you have proper lighting

you can do it (some people do it here)but it's better if you have one.
A skimmer is one of the very imporant equipments, it helps you having better water quality.... specially if you wanna keep corals.

For three years , my tank has had inadequate skimming and, earlier this week , I bought an aquamedic turboflotor 1000 multi. Within a day,i couldn't believe the filthy green stuff that came out of my tank. Allready, my water is clearer and my tank seems cleaner.

Its been done.
IMHO I believe the protien skimmer is one of the revolutions that allowed reef keeping to become so successful.
I believe it will cost more in coral replacement than it will to just keep them alive and growing with a good skimmer.
