I have a soft coral, live rock, live sand and fish tank that seems to be thriving. It has been going about 6 years. Does anyone know what the bubble type things, about a half round, are? They are on live rock, but also sometimes on powerheads. They look like little brains or membranes, with that sort of texture. They are not green, however, nor are they shiny as I would expect if algae. They are white-ish.

Thanks!

In my fresh water tank I have a local snail population that has been in my tank for years now. When they lay they're eggs they look like little clear bubbles in a somewhat larger gelatin. That sounds like the same thing your describing, they will probably grow large enough to hatch in less than a week, they'll eat the gelatin and you'll have little speck's wandering around looking for algae. Although my snails are freshwater I'd imagine that the breeding process for snails wont differentiate all that much.

Good Luck :)
