and i dont really want to do the whole sump plumbing and all that, mostly becuase i dontknow much about it and it looks like a lot of work.
Now this tank isnt going to be set up for a couple months so im going to start asking now to prepare for when it is. Plus this gives me something to do.

I am going to be doing an aggressive tank with some live rock maybe.

Right now i have a little 29 gal tank with a bak pak 2 protien skimmer and bio filter. And i like it becuase its small and works well. Could i use something like that on a bigger tank?

Thanks for your help

Well if you dont get a sump, then you're going to have to use a backpack or inline skimmer. You dont need a huge skimmer for an aggresive FOWLR either, so that will be a plus. You will have to manually remove the excess food and waste manually though.

What kind of fish are you planning on?
Corals or just FOWLR?
Sand, barebottom or crushed coral?
Is the tank drilled or all glass?

I forgot all about this thread we are going to try and get a 150. So we will be doing a sump and all that good stuff.

If we get stuck with the 75 im not sure exactly what we will be putting in it. Still researching fish and every i want will out grow a 75 hence the wanting a 150.
What we want if we keep the 75 is, Fu Man lion, some type of small puffer, and a small eel. So far i have only gotten info on the lion, i have lots of time befor i do anything. Im not rushing just reading and trying to get opinions.

It will have live rock and live sand. No corals. It is an all glass tank.

LOL thats always how it starts! Pretty soon your skimmer will be taller than your kids hehe. In a couple of months, you'll be ready to buy a 200g in-wall for the family room. Be sure to start a thread so we can all watch :)

Now to convince you know who...

First i have to get him to buy a bigger house so i can keep the 75, the 29 thats up now the 150 we want to gte and then the 500 in wall tank. :D

The house we have now is kinda small for a 150 but we'll take the love seat out of the living room to make room for the 150. Thats if i can talk the boyfriend into letting me get the 150 in the first place. I might just get stuck with the 75. Which will really suck!

I have too meny animals and not a big enough house.

LOL

Forget the 150 and get a 100 cube tank! I havent had the whole serious girlfriend problem in awhile. Mostly because I can't find one that isn't CRAZY:exclaim:

I think I'm going to lurk around reefer stores and check for rings. That way I know she wont have a problem with my tanks

 I know the feeling i either get crazy or just plain old boring. At this point i rather have crazy then boring!

I want some cool fish! So the bigger the better!

Just one cat? Huh must be nice! Try a cat, a 90 lb American bulldog PUPPY, 13 snakes, about 10 rats, and a 29 gal tank.
Oh yeah and a boring old boyfriend, did i mention he is boring? Eh he has some cool cars.....:D

Holy smokes 13 snakes?!? Are the rats for the snakes?

Cats I can handle but a dog too, thats just going too far hehe.

I was totally into snakes when I was younger, but it just didn't work out. We never did find any of them hehe.

I love me snakes. lol They are easy to take care of and are very pretty.

The rats are for the snakes i had pet rats befor i had the snakes, so i put my rats to sleep befor i feed them to the snakes.

HA we had two dogs a little while ago a Bull Terrier that we rescued, we had to rehome him because he wasnt good with kids. Bull Terriers are a hand full! I am actualy thinking about getting a puppy either another American bulldog or a Pit Bull Terrier.

I have lost one snake because one of the neigbor kids didnt close his cage all the way and he got out. Poor baby. :( Snakes are cool.

Back to the fish though! Im setting up my little 29gal to be a reef tank.

Im wondering how costly runnning a 150 is going to be....

Actually it's two cats !

My tank runs me about 100 a month. Give or take that is.
It just depends on what i want to put into it. I finally setup my Ro/DI system, now i don't waste money buying saltwater from the LFS. I have my RO producing 24/7. Electricity and food is the highest monthly cost.

Its going to be a FOWLR. I am already looking into buying a RO/DI system for my little tank lol!

We still have a long ways to go befor we set it up. Untill then i will try to stay ocupied with my 29 gal and buying frags for it! I cant wait!

I better start reseaching on RO/DI systems because i dont know anything about them. I was thinking about it today it was so funny i thought "Ware does the tap water come from that its filtering?!?! De De De!

It wont cost you that much. It really depends on how big your return pump is and how big the lights are because those are the two things with the most wattage. My 200g only cost me like $60 a month to run, with no MH. I'm not sure what its like now because I moved out of state before the energy prices really started to rise.

As1720 - you would feel pretty good. I mean you know your boyfriend loves you or else he wouldn't put up with your Dr. Doolittle tendencies hehe :)
