Ok so I'm putting the fish before the tank........Just trying to kick some more ideas around in my brain.
Does anyone have experience with sohal tangs? I have been reading they are aggressive toward other tangs. Does this mean they can't be kept with other reef safe fish too? All info appreciated. :) ...........Thanks, Scott

Hope your planning a BIG tank. They can get to be 12-16" in length. That also means a hefty filtration system to take care of the detritus. Cool fish, but man that's big!

From what I read about their agression, it's more toward other tangs and sometimes wrasses. They should be one of the last fish added too, otherwise new additions will be terrorized.

No first hand knowledge here, just what I've read.

"Sohal Tangs are very aggressive. They should not be kept with other Tangs or Wrasse species. They tend to be well-behaved with old tank mates, but try to kill any new additions. They are only suited for large aquariums with other aggressive fish. They do fairly well in very large reef systems with no other Tangs, and plenty of swimming room." They can grow to 16" and need a minimum of 180gal tank HTH

Cheeks, I read a 100 gal min for a sohal. I have a 150 gal. Still I know I'll probably be pushing limits. I'll have to research more since I'm not ready yet. Thanks for advice. Hopefully someone has kept a specimine and can chime in..........Scott

Add the Sohal nearly last.... they are fairly agressive and territorial and don't play well with others...
