How long does freshly solvent welded pvc pipe need to sit before it can be used for a reef? The cement says it cures in 2 hours, is it safe to use after that? Hoping to get my sump up and running today and i just finished welding the last few pipes.

Thanks.

When you say, solvent welding, do you mean pvc glue?

I've glued up pvc pipe and used it on my reef a hour later.

I've seen stores glue up pvc and put it in service within minutes.

If it makes you feel more comfortable to wait, and you have time to spare, that's fine.
But if you were in a hurry, you could use it right away.

Yeah i didn't know much about it and thought maybe there was a different way. This system was the first time i've welding together PVC and found it pretty fun actually.

working with pvc is actually easier that it looks.

It's alway nicer when you can do a freshwater test, but sometimes you just gotta go for it.

for a small drip you can use super glue and a piece of tape to stop the leak....works all the time on a small drip leak
