i think we should have actual items to raffle as opposed to gift certificates...
like a skimmer!!! skimmer raffle at every meeting!!! hosted by the skimerwhisperer...:idea::razz:
or the like
lol, im joking, but looking at it now, that actually sounds good,
why shouldnt the club benifit from the fact that im a skimmer savant??
they wouldnt have to be expensive skimmers, and i could hype them up all month long before the meeting. i can think of several places that would sell me/the club skimmers for wholesale
and yes, :doubt:mabye some months do like; sets of koralia powerheads, media reactors, l33t coral colonies, t5 light fixtures, etc...

next months meeting Jake talks about using maxi jets not modded with a controller. The controller cost about 30 dollars or less from Ebay. Its called a Chauvet light controller. I am guessing the number is 4002 or 402. I think the maxi jets are about 15 dollars from bulk reef supply or Reef chili.
Mark, the gift certificates are something we thought the club could afford to do to make the meetings more exciting for people just to walk in the door at no charge. If you show up enough, your membership may be free for the year. If you want to do raffles on top of that I'm all for it.

What he said ^^^^! The GC is just the door prize, no cost to member so we need to keep cost down to be able to sustain the practice. We also thought it was a way to pay back our sponsors for their support, we buy the GC and it brings the member into their store who may very well spend even more money.
But I think Mark's ideas are great as raffle items. We have talked about trying to have raffle items for every meeting and I think it is a great goal. Items like skimmers might only entice certian people, but if they are like me if they really want it they will buy more tickets to increase their chances of winning. When the sump was raffled at the BBQ I spent over $100 on raffle tickets in hope that I could win (and it worked!)

So I signed up a few days ago to Indoor Reefs e-mail specials and the welcome note included a link to the website http://www.indooreef.com/. Check out about halfway down on the page, they have a big section about the PSAS.
So I vote we get the door prize GC at Indoor Reef for the November meeting.

I got the confirmation from Jake for Nov. 15th. I have booked his flight too (he wanted us to do it) for $175. I have also started the process for booking BCC on November 15th.
The presentation topic is

I also received their newsletter and we are also featured on it. Definitely need to hit them this time. My daughter lives near there so I will pick up the GC unless anybody objects.

My only suggestion would be to either eliminate the word "well" on the 3rd sentence or put a comma after it. Maybe also have each line on a separate line.
