most large angelfish will eat sponges..how big is the sponge,do you have a pic?

is it white, stringy stuff?

if so i had that stuff overtake my HOB fuge and it was choking out the chaeto, covering my heater and just generally causing problems. tried peeling it out by hand but I ended up having to take the whole HOB filter off the tank and scrub it all down to the coralline.

Yeah it's just like that. There is nothing out there that will eat it?

I don't know, I didn't really look into that.

I'm sure there are species of nudibranches that eat sponges but getting your hands on some could prove difficult.

if it were me, I'd leave it alone. Sponges are one of the coolest things in your tank and it's way better to have sponges than algae growing on your rock and it may be a good sign of health of your system or possibly aiding in your water quality. I found a huge sponge the other day in my tank that had grown on the backside of 2 rocks and is black in color. It had 'glued' the rocks together. The thing was no bigger than a dime a year ago.

i have at least 3 other kinds of sponges that don't bother anything and I leave be, but the white stringy stuff was intrusive and annoying. if thats what this is.
