Montipora.jpg

thanks a bunch

got it from nance in a trade, forgot to ask the species, i was thinking it might be a digita, but i'm quite inexperienced at this point for sps id's
actually come to think of it the only two montipora sp. i know off the top of my head is capricornis and digita

o and thanks for the compliment big t, it's got nice coloring for being under 10k's, i really want to get actinics soon, just too busy

That is one of those corals that usually looks more popping under the 10k's. It looks pretty happy, and those are fast growers.

alright, i can't wait for it to grow, just curious what is considered fast growth for sps (inch/month... inch 2months or what not)

I believe it came from Reefless. He was very generous with me. I picked up some of his orange montipora digitata and other corals.

It sounds like he has nice growth, has to frag to keep it under control. Mine seems to be doing fine near the top under 250 watt 12k reeflux halides. I have only had it for a month or so. Not sure if I have had much growth. I am pretty new to SPS.

me to, it's among the first 5 frags i have, one of which that came in on my live rock, so far it's the favorite i have tied with a pocillopora that i hope colors up better when actinics are on, right now it's got teal tips

Growth in this species can be fairly fast. Some say an inch a month in either the digitata and or plating capricornis. Thats a sweet frag..
