C'mon, seriously? I'm sure this is a great light for anyone looking for LED lighting on a budget and I would definitely consider it if that was my price range, but the OBD light doesn't even come close to the Radion in options. It has 2X the led's and uses more watts to cover the same 2sq ft area that a Radion does. Reostats to dim? You can program the Radion colors individually and set intensity to your hearts desire with no controller necessary and it syncs with Ecotech pumps. Just sayin
Now dont be bitter Chichas:biggrin1::wave: just joking.
But you got to let me at lease reply to a couple of things.
So in regards to options: Yes the OBD led does not do lighting, cloud or seasonal simulations. The software that you can buy for extra from Radion allows you to control the individual colors that are on the radion fixture, cool but is anyone really going to crank up the red or green?? if not then its down to blues and whites and we can do that. I will also add that the Radion is a very nice sleek looking light fixture.

So here my friend we kind of part ways. The Radion in no way comes close to the par output of the OBD, not even close. You get twice the par and strong par across the whole 2 foot square (Obd actually goes 30 inches by 24). I will make you a deal I will come to your house with a fixture and a quantum light meter and if the Radion is even close I will come back here and admit I was totally wrong, if you will do the same?? I will even bring coffee?? And yes the stock light uses rheostats to dim, or for a little more you can use a Typhon controller or use it with your Apex.
Honestly folks they are two different animals and should not be compared. The Radion light is a very high end fixture in the neighborhood of 900 for the new fixture only, its thin and sleek as it puts the drivers in a box away from the light and if you want you can buy the software that allows you to play with the simulations listed above and control the light colors individually...very nice light.
We designed the OBD light with only two reasons in mind. First is to bring the required photons to the corals, this light delivers more par/pur to the coral then any other light on the market. They have performed so well that Live-aquaria and two Wholesale coral houses in LA now run them over their corals tanks. The second reason is price point, thier is no reason for a hobbest to have to pay so much money just to get the benefits (less heat, less electrical cost and longevity) of having leds over their tank.
If you boil it down to having the correct amount of light over your corals in a color that pleases you then it is really hard to argue with twice the par for half the price??? If you are looking for a light that has the goodies and a sleeker design and you have the money the Radion is a good choice. To be honest we sell both and with their MAP pricing I make more selling the Radions.
let me know my friend it would be good to measure the Radion again.
