Make sure when you place the 2x6 support beam they won't be in the way of where your holes will be on the bottom of your tank for the drain and return line or if you are doing CL they are not in the way of those holes too.

Roscoe makes a great point!! I built the stand for our 200 Deep Dimension. I ALMOST forgot to take the plumbing into consideration. I'm glad I didn't forget, because I did have to alter my plans slightly, because the factory drilled holes are very close to the edge of the tank. I'd have been screwed!!

Glad to hear you're using pocket screws. Strong and a very clean design that way!! Much better than toe nailing!!

I really find it so amusing how so many people build their stands, yes it will be holding a lot of weight but it's an aquarium, not a tank! I totally understand being safe but has anyone really looked at most of the stuff that is commercially available? It is so much less that what everyone uses to build the ones I have seen. When was it the last stand that you bought had a 2x4 in it much less a 2x6 or even 2x8! You can build a stand out of 3/4 inch plywood and be totally safe 99% of the time.

I don't think you have anything to worry about as long as it's flat.

Yeah, most all of us overbuild, myself included. But hey, when Ranier blows, my stand will still be in one piece
