stand vs tank

so im gettin tank thats 36x18

my stand, more like a table is 34x20.

im not spending any more money. so dont bother telling me to get a new stand. no way

so

1. put it center so theres 1" overhang on each side

or

2. pur it leaning on one side. with 2" overhang.

with number1, the tank is supported using the front and back side black bar thingys. with number2, it is supported by using the front, back and one side bar. is this better?? but i will have ~2g hanging on one side....i dont know what to do.

It's what you've already said no to, but I'd get another stand. Tanks aren't built to handle sheer load, that's a lot of weight in a way never intended. You'll save money now, but not if the tank fails. I honestly think you'll regret it. Maybe others have had experience that says otherwise.

What if you put a couple sheets of hardwood/plywood, the size of the tank, on top of the table?

You could get a 1" wood board and cut it to fit/support the tank.

I did that for my 75 acrylic when the metal stand I had for it was missing the entire middle support. I cut some kind of sturdy looking 2x4's and placed them front to back in the stand and it worked great.

When i intially set up my 20 long (thirty inches, first tank ever) i didnt have a stand or anything so i put it on a little cabinet that was only 24x24.. so i had 3 inches hanging off both sides.. it worked okay.. i mean.. the tank didnt crack or anything=) but im not sure if this is ideal... the tank is still sitting there with a mantis inside!

make a new stand out of 2x4's & plywood at least but hey if it is glass & that chance is all yours

Look at it like a card board box with no top if you put preasure evenly around the top rim it works great if just on 2 sides it crumbles, I know it will work hanging over but if that stand is bumped or moved there is a goog chance it could be bad, glass tanks carry all weight on outside rim unlike acrylic which need total support I would go the route of adding at least a 1 inch piece of board to the top of stand cheap and safe

3/4" fir plywood is much stronger than 1" (nominal 3/4") hemlock boards.
Get a piece of plywood. Might be able to find a piece of scrap from one of the housing projects on the plateau

I would deffinently go with the "take your time on this one so you dont regret it later." Why are you in such a hurry to set this next tank up, is your other one failing? If i didnt have to tear down one tank just to set up another one in the same place (like i did), i would have much rather took it slow that way i could save more money and do everything the *right* way. But, if you are just going with plywood, make sure you get real 3/4" oak (or something hard) 12ply and make sure you DONT get OSB. Good luck

dude!!, i ran the 10k 250watt mh over my 10 for about 3 hours and it killed every single algae i have (including some cyano)....YAY JOY CHEER BYAH!!! and my a. celaris's polyps turned green!!!..hehe wicked sick. never expected sooo much from a mh. but i do hate the 10k color. im getting 14k hamilton
