I can get a 4x4 piece of starboard free. It is only 1/8" thick though. Is this going to be thick enough to put on the bottom of my tank or do I need to go thicker? It would sure beat paying for the stuff if it would work.:)

I think it should work, the starboard is just to protect the glass from any rock falling down on it, it should be ok.

Thanks Luey!! I was hoping it would work. It looks like the stuff is pretty expensive otherwise.

Thanks Again Guys!!

No problem. Show us some pictures of the tank when you get a chance.

I will in about a month. I got a new rebel xt a few weeks back. I am using an old kit lens from an old film rebel so the quality is poor right now. I should have enough saved for nice new lens by the begining of next month.:D

All is use is 1/8 Brian. If it is siliconed down it won't lift on the ends:)

Starboard is that white piece of plastic you see on the bottom of some bare bottom tanks. It looks almost just like ABS plastic except it is better grade and more expensive. You will also see a lot of it used on boats for stuff like doors, panels etc.:)
