I saw a Black Tipped Red Starfish the other day at the LFS. Anyone got some inside info on these guys? Are they reef safe? What do they eat? Would my clams be "on the menu"? Any info someone could privide would be greatly appreciated....

Ritsuko by black tipped what do you mean? My rule of thumb is wide body, stubby legs bad, narrow body, long skinny legs good. But as you know rules are made to be broken. I looked in Sprungs Reef inverts, and Fenners Con. Marine Aquar. no luck so far. Did you happen to get a picture?

No I didnt get a pic but it resembles a Linka for the most part and has black on the last 1cm of the 5 legs. Behavior wise it seemed to have many of the same habits as a Linka, ie...hanging on a piece of live rock and kinda waving an arm in the water as if it was hoping to snag a "scooby snack" from the passing water. They claimed it was reef safe but I have "seen that movie a few times", so I am a bit cautous. I have skimmed through my reference books and cant find anything about them either and was just wondering if the more experienced members had the scoop on them. But I am kinda digging the little guy and think it would look too cool in my nano...
