Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

Picked up a few cheap corals today and getting a free one tomorrow. All and all, the tank is starting to look good and the people on here have been real helpful.

Softies generally is a good way to learn as fayzane said above.

Rob, would you have a second peice of GSP available next weekend? I am looking for some.

Xenia?

I noticed a few people have an overabundance of Xenia. I have just got my tank set up and cycled, water reading are perfect, and I added the Toadstool that Kenargo gave me along with a zoa I recently purchased. Would love some xenia if someone has any extra. We live in Federal Way can come pick up.

On a separate note, someone mentioned Candy Cane was easy to care for? I thought it was an LPS. I am just starting so thought i was limited to softies and maybe a hardy SPS, thought LPS was out of reach for at least 6-12 months, and a lot more knowledge... am i making too much of it?

If you are doing a toadstool and some zoa and they are doing ok. CandyCane is one of the easiest lps. Consider some target feeding ocassionally at night and you are golden. Just adjust there position in the tank to get right light and flow. Mine do well in medium light medium flow.

Sps has very high need requirements, and usually higher lighting needs. Lps can have high needs as well, however there are some easier, hardier species. Candy-cane, trumpet, the euphyllias-torch, hammer, frogspawn can be easier. Just go slow and do lots of reading and talking. You'll get there! :)

I have plenty of GSP to pass out. I work mon-fri, and get home around 5:30-6:pm or so. Just PM me when you want to stop by, I can give you my number in PM too.

I live near 23rd and jackson (actual corner is M L King Jr Way S and S Lane St)
