Starving Lawnmower blenny

I have a standard problem with algae blenny in small aquarium. After some period my tank is algae free and blenny has nothing to eat. I`ve tried various food like dry alga sheets, spirulina tablets and flakes, boiled chard, dry krill, etc. He is not even interested in the food, he lets it float right by him. So I have tried hand feeding and after few days he start to show interest for food. He like spirulina, both flakes and sinking tablet but only from my hand. It is difficult to feed him every day at this way so I try with DIY frozen mix: crab, shrimp, squid and mussel meat. This is the right combination for him, and he started to eat not only from my hand but also food that falls out, around my hand. I continue to feed him at this way and hope that he will start to eat every food that passing by. Now even my clowns eat from my hand. In the future I will prepare more food, but with spirulina, chard, lettuce and some meaty parts.

Good job in getting the blenny to eat! Some hobbyists are not as fortunate.

My lawnmower blenny won't eat algae any more, instead insisting on frozen mysis like everybody else in the tank. He likes live ones too. And I put him in there to do some work!

Mine accepted prepared food (O.S.I. marine pellets) after couple of months! After that he's getting so fat that I'm little bit worried about it. It's funny to see how he, being not a great swimmer, successfully competes with my other big fishes like tangs, foxface and moorish idol during feeding time.

Oh my! Albert - that is some Blenny!! He looks like he can barely perch! How long have you had him? For sure, he looks like he gives the bigger fish a run for the food.
