hi all!!!
i got a 150 gallon set up tonight and wanted to share in the setup and growth of the tank. i am shooting for a sps dominated tank.

so tonight 5 of us loaded this beast to the truck, into the truck, out of the truck and into my house.....agh...

i got the tank which is a 150 gal glass tank, the stand, which is iron with oak built around it, and the hood, which has a halmilton 3x250 mh setup!!!!

also with this purchuse i got three ilwalki (sp) style exturnal pumps, one to run the skimmer, one for a return that exits out of a series of loc lines, and one for a closed loop.

there is also a arcylic sump in the stand. about 40 gallons or so.
;)

so last night i filled up the tank with fresh water and started filling the sump but went to bed. so today i am going to fill up the sump and crank up the overflows and the returns and the closed loop as well. then i will do the salt. then i will put a shallow sand bed in the display and a dsb in the sump.

so it has been a day and a half and i am happy to report that all is well and there was only a few bumps in the road. i have my chiller in the right side stand cupboard (i know i know, i added a 6" fan blowing the air out of the cupboard.) and the tube i used was to thin and flexable and it would kink where it was running through the hole in the cupboard wall, so today i ran to the lfs and got some black pond tubing and fixed the kinks so the chiller would work properly. i ended up losing the frogspawn to the prior heat and stress of moving, but no other livestock was lost.

here is a diagram of the flow in the tank. i am 85% done with the pluming. i need to get the suction started on the closed loop, and i have to set up the powerheads on the wave maker and i still have to buy one more powerhead.

the etss skimmer is just starting to skim. i have to say, that for a $750 skimmer i am not very impressed with its performance... but i will give it a week.

i will post some photos tomorrow of how happy my fish are with all their new "fin" room.

ehh... pic won't upload... i will try agian tomorrow... thanks for reading!!!:D

flow

so here is the plan for the flow. i am almost done with it. i have to get another maxijet mod and start the cl and i'm gold.

i spent all day (3 hr);) cleaning out the storage room and cleaning off the patio which was 6 trips to the dumpster and 95% of it was fish stuff... hmm maybe i can start breeding clowns in it!!!

dang. i keep getting a can not show page message when i push the upload botton....grrr...

HEY!!! this month is my one year @ reeffrontiers!!! lets see... i had a 30 gal on my bar that exploded while i was at work, a 75 that i had put uncured lr in which made a no3 nuke... and now i have a 150 display and a 40 sump.... lol lol lol... guess i'm learning quick...lol

today i have been getting my previous system cleaned up and am transfering some of the sand to my new tank. i think i'm gonna have a crap load of sand left cause in my old system had a plenum and a huge rubbermaid sump with a dsb in it.

right now i have the cyno on my sand and my no3 seems to have toped out at 20 but i'll be watching. i can't wait to start adding coral.

the next thing i am going to do is make some pvc racks like in the picture for my aquascaping. i was thinking one in each side.

so i put the rack together tonight and put it in the tank. put some rock on it and i don't know if i like it or not. i will post a pic if a few.
