Strawberry Shortcake acro frags

Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum

Help Support Reef Aquarium & Tank Building Forum:

From my research I've done. This coral was named by the wholesaler and UC was one of the 1st to obtain the coral.

A. Nasuta would be a good guess. We got our colony from what I believe is the same supplier UC did. This particular LA wholesaler has an amazing Aussie supplier. They are bringing in the most stunning SPS. Pretty sure that UC named it but the frags on the market are coming from wild colonies as no one has had this coral long enough to be propagating it.

That's all we know... Now hopefully they will finish fixing my planes engine so I can finish my trip!

According to UC, they named it and introduced it at MACNA 09, but who really knows...lol. Glad to hear this is from the same stock!! It seems to be very healthy and grows well under a variety of lighting systems.

Cy, Are you stranded somewhere, awaiting the engine repairs?? That really sucks!! Hope they get it fixed fast, so you can get on with your trip!!!

Oh and Chris got that issue taken care of, this morning!! Thanks for your understanding and confidence!! I've been watching for that Fed Ex truck every couple minutes...lol. It's kinda keeping me from getting anything done, BUT, one has to have their priorities straight!!

Enjoy your trip!!

Sarang, I was a bit hesitant to buy it, without seeing it in person. Had it been any other "vendor" I woudn't have. However, I was pleasantly surprised at the color, right out of the bag. The slight polyp extension, within a few minutes, was nice too! I'm not home right now, but anxious to get home and see if it's showing more polyps. I'll also comment that Brie's photos are very accurate and went a long way towards my decision to buy lol.

I just came across this thread and thought I would clarify the naming of the Strawberry Shortcake Acro

just before MACNA 09' I was working at Unique Corals in NYC and we decided to take to MACNA a coral we received in a Aussie shipment from Eric Cammano of Route66Marine, which was the SS acro. Me, Vince Suh and the owner of UC Joe Caparatta were trying to come up with a name for the piece and Joe just blurted out Strawberry Shortcake and it stuck like glue..the rest is histroy...So yes UC was the namer and introduced it to the masses
