So heres the deal. I currently have a 30g AGA tank used for my sump. It usually is about 1/2 full....so realistically 15g extra water volumn. No fuge. For a small time I added a 20g fuge to help clear up a algae problem. Since it really wasn't designed into my system I didn't want to keep it. So, now a few months down the road I have decided to address my sump/fuge stuff. I have a 25 tall that will be used for the sump. Water from the display goes into the sump where it is skimmed. Once it is skimmed it overflows into a 29g AGA which has been partitioned into a fuge, bubble trap, and return. (This changes the system from 15g currently to close to 50g of actual water volumn) You can get a general idea from this pic:

Here is my dilema at the moment. I have a Prime Tower chiller with internal thermal controller. (Does not control heater) I also have a Pro Heat heater. I plan to add a better controller so my chiller isn't fighting the heater but that will have to wait. So am I right in thinking the chiller should take from compartment 1 and empty into the display, then the heater should be in compartment 3 with the retun? This would keep the chiller from pulling in water just heated by the heater, then chilling it.

I have gone over this in my head all this week and can make arguements for just about every configuration. Its driving me loopy.

The concern I would have is if the water from the chiller is a much lower temp than your display. i would rather have it mix in the sump/fuge area.

I opted to go chiller-less until next summer. With my new filtration and the way it is set-up now my tank sits at about 76.8 at night and 78.4 during the day. I'll have to figure things out later down the road but atleast for now things are good.
