Been a while since I've been on here (had a problem with our newly set-up sump a while back); hubby is back from his week away and we have it all set up again and it's working great.... with one exception: tons of bubbles are coming out from the return pump into the tank. Any idea as to what is causing this?

In your sump, do you have "baffles?" These should be 2 or 3 pieces of glass, placed vertically, an inch or so apart. One of these should be raised off of the bottom an inch or so. This forces the water to go over, under, and over the pieces of vertical glass. When the water goes under, the bubbles rise to the surface and are trapped, not allowing them to continue through the rest of the sump to the return pump. If you do a google search for "DIY sump/refugium," you should find some information, including pictures of what I'm talking about.

yes, we have exactly what you're describing.... (skimmer in the middle section of the sump);

Thank you; guess the magic question is how do I prevent this?
