Where is a good place to get one besides building one for my 175. I have a Mega Flow Type 4 and it sucks for setting up a refergium. The spot where the long foam filter (which I removed and replaced with a grate style strainer) is so short it sucks my calerpa into it from the water flow. Also are socks a good thing? Thanks in advance.

Building one may be your best option to get what you really want. Buying one pre-made may not be be the exact design you want which will put you back to square one. Also, finding an appropriate size for that size tank already pre-made (that is not a wet/dry like the mega flow you have now) may be hard to come about as well. In any event, here is a link to a few sumps pre-built incase any look like they will work for you:)

As for the filter sock, they are good at trapping detritus, but they have to be cleaned atleast every 2-3 days at most to prevent any water quality issues with the trapped waste breaking down. Some people use them because they don't mind the maintenance while others choose not to. Just a personal preference:)
