Folks,
So this is the what I have investigated for the SWAP Meet Location:

1. Picinic Sheltors:

Redmond has picnic sheltors available which are rented in 2 options:

a. Half Day (9-2 or 4-dusk) - Price $90
a. Full Day (9-2 or 4-dusk) - Price $90

The one I was looking @ is called Farrel McWhirter Park. 19545 Redmond Road which is the only one available for that weekend. I think it's too out of the way for the people

Seattle has no picnic sheltosrs available

2. 989 Apartment's Cabana:

They charge $65 ($200 refundable deposit) but I checked it out today and it's huge with enough place for all of us (can support 40+ people in my view). It has a lounge, kitchen, pool table and outdoor patio too. Really nice place with enough tables and chairs for atleast 1/2 the people. It also has the free underground parking available. People can carry their pumps, lights, powerheads to this place easily and have the full setup in their car/truck parked in the garage.

It's right off Bellevue downtown exit off I-405 (around 8th street).

Only thing is we'll have to clean up the place afterwards but we can do it.

3. Steven was going to look for some church parking lot.

My recommendation is #2 right now given that Microsoft is out of the equation. What do you guys think? Any other place we can think of...

with my tank tear down, i havent had a chance to ask the Church. Unless there are any objections, lets do it at my house. We can setup in the garage and people that plan on staying can drop off there stuff in the drive way and park there car out side the gate. What do you all think. Location is a good mid way point...

Steven , D
do you think your neighbors would like 50 cards on the road?
Great offer but i think the church might work depending on cost.

By the way, where do most members live? King or Pierce?

I dont expect to have that many people all at one time. I think a lot of people will be coming and going.

Im fine with that idea. Steven is the one who has to deal with his grouchy neighbors. :p I guess I will the following month. :)

My concern with Stevens place would be the parking. It was tight when I was trying to find a space. I still prefer the idea of a parking lot someplace, but whatever the majority decides works for me.

Did we set a firm date for this?

Also I know we threw out the idea of commission or asking for equipment donations, or I had suggested that we just ask members to donate 10-20% of their proceeds from anything they sell (I prefer the latter, I know I cannot afford to just donate all of my equipment I am wanting to sell, I need to try to make at least something off of selling to try to offset some of the cost of my upgrade). I do not think we came to a decision on this.

Do you think RF would mind if we advertised this sale on their equipment for sale forum?

I hope we can firm up plans soon, I think the earlier we can get out word on this the better the turn out will be!

I still have the place that I mentioned in Bellevue. I vote for it because of convenience (parking and central location). However, I am fine with steven's place too.

I will be out of town till the weekend now but I hope we've decided on the place by the time I come back and I will post it on the website...

Ghazni - Lets go with your location. The church by my house declined as they have a baseball tournament.

Bob - have you been able to get ahold of Randy for the membership info? If not, we can just post it in our RF forum since it is open for everyone to attend.

We do need to stress that the equiptment should be clean and dry so that we dont leave a mess.

ok guys, been out for some time. Two updates from my side:

1. The place where I mentioned (989 Elements in Bellevue) said they've their own event on 16th and cannot do it. Given that and also Ed is off and I have a potential out of town event coming (dates not known yet), I have secure the location for August 23rd.

I am hoping this should work for all of us. I will post it on the WEBSITE soon and start a thread about this.

2. I am not getting any more responses from Paul on the website. At this point, I want to reign in and take over the charge of the website. I will call him today or tomorrow and ask him if he's interested in this anymore or not.

Thanks for securing the place, now we have a date and can get the word out.

I am out of town that weekend, but then again no weekend this month is real good for me. Let me know if you need anything from me for the event. I have the soda and water that was left over from the picnic I can meet up with somebody if you want it for the swap meet.

The event is posted on the website. It would be good to grab it if possible. Or else, we can always use it later...

People are asking if they have to be members for this event. I was thinking we should make it members only for selling, but anybody can come and buy. What do you all think?
