I was aware that these clams grow fast but was not prepared for how fast. I was think think along the lines of a few inch per year. The first pic was taken around May 15th of last year. The second one a few weeks ago. It's has tripled in size in a little over a year, now measurin close to 12". Will this growth slow some or should I prepared myself for another triple or even double in size. If so I need to start some serious planning.

Looks to me like you moved it closer to the camera:D

Awesome growth dude! What do you feed it? Don't change a thing, that is a beauty!

Trick photography that's all it is.
I've never fed it anything. Never added phyto to the tank. Well, I take that back. I added one bottle during the first couple of weeks because some of the clams were under 4". I know now it would have better to pull those clam out to feed them. Other than that all I've done is my best to maintain my parameters at Ca-430, Alk-3.77, Mg-1300, NO4/NO3/PO4 at 0. Althought, my NO3 has hung around a 2. I need to do a better job with that.

Anyone that's had one for a few years that can give me a hint on growth rates. I know they can get 3' but I didn't think it would be in the first 2 years. :|

Hello,
They average about 16"-19" in 5 years :)
One of the most often questions I get when people see my store display tank is "Is that thing real?" referring to my T. gigas. Most people can’t imagine a live clam being that large.

Regards,
Kevin
