I was told that t5s are more efficient (using less electricity), lumens, lifespan and wattage then PCs. is this correct?

Mine: A 48” 4-bulb PC fixture can generate 4 x 96w x 60 = ~23,000 lumens.
A 48” 4-bulb T5HO fixture can generate 4 x 54w x 93 = ~ 20,000 lumens.
A 48” 6-bulb T5HO fixture can generate 6 x 54w x 93 = ~30,000 lumens.

Anyone have any background with them?

I don't have any of the tech info at hand but as Scooty said there is tech info all over the forums. I can give IMO, I really like the T-5's. Especially over PC's. Here are some pics of my rock tank with LPS and SPS corals in it. I only have T-5's over it. 2 48" x 54 watt 10K lamps and 1 48" x 54 watt 6100K lamp. I didn't get around to putting the 2 36" x 39 watt actinics over the tu and for the last 4 months everything is fine. As you can see the coralline is going nuts and the corals are fine.

thanks Scooty for the technical aspect, as a science teacher I need to know why things will be better but also being scared to risk my live stock I need the IMOs,

thanks all Keep them coming.
