Tangs A love hate relationship

I like most everyone just love tangs. I currently have a regal and a orange shoulder and im still looking at purchasing 2 more. Thing i hate about this fish is how easy they love ich. Yesterday noticed my regal was covered in white spot. and the orange shoulder had some also. The thing that gets me is none of the other fish ever get it. I havent lost a tang to ich yet (knocks on wood). Btw think the tang stressed during a bacterial bloom after i started using vertex bio pellets. So anyone else's tang get white spot and not your other fish?

Sorry, my tang hasn't had ich but he's been a really bully to the other fish though. I'd like to flush him but he is just to yellow looking.

I personally believe tangs will always have the white spots not sure if it is ICh as my tank never had ich before and I qt'd all my fish and when I intro a new fish the white spots came and as fast as they came then left also. i think it is just a stress defence lol I have no clue. what it would be as you would think all the fish would get it but only happened to the tangs.

Tangs are one of the fish most prone to get ich. From what I’ve read, the bluer the tang the more easily they get ich. Don’t have a clue why and one biologist I was reading said that nearly every blue hippo tank he ever examined showed signs of ich. .

Hay capdippe, Ill take that tang off your hands if your serious about flushing. I’m sure someone would be happy to take that guy off your hands or maybe trade for some other fish.

yeah thanks for the responses. I have just added a few fish lately and 1 was the orange shoulder. He is looking better this evening and eats like a pig.

I resolved the tang ich issue with adding a UV filter as a clarifier and vacuuming my sand

Never had ich since almost 3 years now

where did you get the orange shoulder from?

Got the orange shoulder from a red sea aquarium. Rob has excellant animals and orange shoulder was very healthy when i purchased it.

thanks mal. no offense. I was actually just wondering where to get one. Its on my wish list.
Plus the thought of ich really scares me - my purple tang has been really healthy so far and I would be sick if he caught it.

Im actually going to take advantage of this petco sale and get me a 40b for a qt tank. I believe rob had another orange shoulder that was alot smaller then the one i got. Ill post a pic of the one i have for you.
