Tank of shame resurrected

Well, after months and months of looking at the 60g cube in my office, I decided to take a couple of hours to tear it apart and start all over again. Water was drained, fish gathered, rock taken out and scrubbed, macro dispossed of, and the little bit of ricordias I had there collected and saved. The tank was put outside to be hosed and each side to be soaked in vinegar for at least an hour to remove all the coralline from the sides without scratching it to no end. Here are some shots:

That will be a nice tank. What are your plans for it? or will it be cleaned and stored?

Well, I had it for sale locally for a while as I was too lazy to clean it. Nobody wanted it even thought I was giving it away practically, so I decided to neglect it even more. It would evaporate 35g fromt he sump and would not get top off until the pump was sucking air, tc. You know the type of neglect I am talking about. Finally, today I made the time to take it apart. I will put it together later tonite. I told my wife I would put whatever she wanted in it, which amounts to softies. I would have loved to do seahorses and pipefish, but the thought of having to grow daily food is worse than the thought of cleaning it before LOL........... The tank is almost the perfect size for a small tank to grow just about anything. High enough for seahorses, big enough for acros, big enough for plenty of softies. You name it.

I don't think I've ever seen a tank that looked so bad. I can't wait to see it cleaned back up with the livestock in it.

This is what it now looks like after the major clean up job. There is some minor amounts of macro left, but I will be getting some clean up crew and some form of a hervibore.

These are my two angler fish. They both started out black with yellow markings ont hem, but somewhere alone the lines one decided to turn mustard color. Very coolor by the way. I don't recal ever seeing any others of that same color. I still want to get a red onw.

I feed them gost shrimps that I gut load with cyclopeeze first. Has worked out pretty well so far.

As far as stocking, I have changed my mind so far 3 times. I think I will keep it simple and just add an eel of some sort, maybe a trigger, and a couple of other fish. I want to keep it as simple as simple gets. No chiller, no filters, and no skimmer either.

So I got out of work early today and you know what that means right? Spend money you shouldn't!!! I had to go to a friend's house to drop something and a LFS is just down the street from them, so I stopped over.

As I starred at the acros and clams they had in their shallow tank by the register, I see this huge anemone that I never paid attention to. For some unknown reason to me, I continued to stare at it until I almost had a heart atack after seeing the clowns that came out from under it. One of the nicest mated pairs of A. sandaracinos I have seen in a long long time. The anemone looked healthy and it had been there for like 4 weeks, so I took the trio home and put them in the cube tank. They are all acclimated and doing well. The pictures below do not do any justice whatsoever to these clowns and their color.

The anglers won't fit the clowns int heir mouth. Neither will the two lion fish in the tank that you can't see in the pictures. I took that into consideration. I ahve been feeding the lionfish and the anglers gut loaded with cyclopeezed ghost shrimps and has worked well so far. I don't forsee it being a problem anytime soon, but you have a point in that they will eventually grow. Clown also have their anemone, which will either sting or eat the anglers if they get too close. But, like I said, so far they all ignore each other.

I would love to add a blue carpet, which I see at LFS frequently around here and maybe a ritteri anemone later down the road. This is my first go at anemones actually, so I want to take it slow and get some experience before I move to any more additions.
