good day all

I am just wondering what the minimum tank size would be for a 1 to 2" juv emperor angel. I am looking at getting one as well as a copper banded butterfly to help with my soon to be reef tank as well as a couple clowns and well you get the idea but nothing bigger then 2". wondering if any one can help me out

thanks

If you're planning on those fish for your "soon to be reef tank," you'd better think again. The Emperor Angel is definitely NOT reef safe and the Copper Banded Butterfly is not very reef safe. The CBB is also a very difficult fish to keep. Most die in captivity within a short time. It's just too difficult to get them to eat on a regular basis and they starve to death. With those things in mind...both of these fish will need a very large aquarium. You could get away with a 75 for the butterfly but the Angel will need a much larger tank. I wouldn't suggest trying a fish this size without a 125-150 gallon tank. Keep in mind that adults can grow to 14-15 inches. They'll also destroy any corals you have.

"What the minimum tank size would be for a 1 to 2" juv emperor angel. " 30 gal would be the min for a juv emperor angel that size and move it in to a bigger tanks as it grows. Minimum for a Adult would be an open 180gal.

I would strongly advise against purchasing a fish with the thought being that you would keep it for a while and then sell it to someone with a bigger tank, or perhaps, upsize tanks yourself. Bad practice and not really in the best interest of these amazing animals for whom we try to care.

I would say 150-180 gallon, minimum.
