I wanted to post this thread on Clear Fabrications sponser forum to formally thank Jason for taking on my 250gal island tank project. I am now at the stocking stage of my mixed reef tank and you can follow my progress on an existing link at: http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=21986. I apologize for some duplicate photos here but I wanted to focus the tank/sump design and construction here.

Here I just want to brag a little about the quality, craftsmanship, and overall experience I have had with Clear Fabrications...

I really enjoyed working with Jason because he listened very closely to my requirements and answered all of my questions with an explanation as to why (which is very important to me being an engineer). He also steered me in directions away from where I probably would be severly regretting by now.

The tank is 54in long by 36in wide by 30in deep 3/4in thick polycast acrylic with a center overflow. Here is a picture of the tank before plumbing and water just to give you a visual of the tank itself:

I also had Clear Fabrications design and build the mating 100gal sump. The sump tower is fed by 1.5in main drain. The sump design allows for skimmer, Ca reactor, to be placed inside as well as storage for temp storage of LR, etc:

Here are some nice details that I would like to share... first the center overflow design. Notice the rails with holes on the overflow box, two per side for a total of eight. All smoothed and polished and available to tie off LR anywhere near the bottom up to the top of the tank:

Here is the tank edge detail... so sweet!!! A double bevel with runout:

Here is a top view of the center overflow with conduit for electrical chase to canopy:

Here is one more detail photo that I think highlights the quality and attention to detail. Notice the top eurobrace cutouts are all smoothed over and polished and also the 'teeth' that custom cut to accomodate the main pump returns located just below the waterline:

I can highly recommend Jason at Clear Fabrications for a very thoughfully designed and beautifully crafted custom tank!

That's a sweet tank Mark! I have wanted a tank from Jason ever since seeing his work last summer. I know whenever I get the chance to upgrade, it will be a custom tank thru him. Thanks for sharing your pics. The rails on the overflow is a great idea. And the sump looks awesome too.

Did you get the stand and canopy thru Clear Fabrications also?

Have fun with stocking it up!

Actually the stand and canopy are my own design and creation. I am a hobbyist woodworker and built this in my shop. The initial thread for the tank stand and canopy is here: http://www.reeffrontiers.com/forums/showthread.php?t=14874
