in the health of my tank. I don't have any fancy equipment so water changes are a MUST for me. I encourage anybody starting out to test your RO/DI water or NSW and then carry lots of water.

yeah it gets heavy .
i carry 2 5 gals from the basement to our office once a week...it's a pain but it's the only way .

it's our wanna be office :p.
it's suppose to be the kids room but since both sleep with us, we just decided to use it as an office .

ugh. that's alot of water--Gaby you must have the buffest arms on the block!:) :p

I'm luckier--in a 1-story house--so I just use an old mag-2 and a food-safe "garden"-hose to pump it from my garage to the dining room during water-changes.
...speaking of which--guess what weekend chore didn't get done yesterday... (It was just TOO NICE outside--to nice to be inside scraping algae  )

How-a-bout only taking half-full buckets?

You probably only end up with a half-full bucket once you bring it upstairs anyway.

LOL....I carry mine up from the garage( 14 steps) two 5 gal containers but then I only have to go around the corner (the bathroom) to get rid of the old water. I think my arms have gotten more toned for an um (cough) older lady. :D

Use gas cans labled RODI water with a black sharpie marker.
It seals, they are the cheapest of the jugs.
I have 5 gallon blitz brand jugs that actually hold 6 gallons.
I load and unload 12-15 a day in my truck if it makes you feel any better.
LOL

kewl dood!! :).
now we know who's the next Arnold Schwarzenegger :D :p.

I purchased five seven gallon water jugs from Wallyworld. They have tap spouts and are very handy, but very heavy. I carry them up to a second floor apartment through two locked doors. I plan on ordering RO/RI from the filter guys this. I figure it's cheaper than a doctors visit for a bad back.

I currently mix in one of our bathrooms, in the containers I bought and mix with a pump overnight. I have a cheap heater and bring the water up to temperature before I do the water change. I do at least a 20% change monthly. When I get the RO/DI unit, I plan on making water and storing in the seven gallon containers. Not having to carry water up stairs, I'll probably up the frequency of my water changes.
