What's the best calcium reactor media available and why? I just bought a reactor from My Reef Creations and was wondering if I could just use aragonite from CaribSea such as their Seafloor line at 1-2mm particle size.

For the most part they will all accomplish the same thing. The ARM does dissolve at a higher ph so less co2 is needed. It is more expensive so I guess it would balance out. I would be concerned with impurities. The big one would be phosphates. They don't get the shells and other things out of substrate like they do media designed for a reactor.

I would use rowalith or arm for no other reason than quality control.

That really depends on your reactor.ARM is a good media, generally what most people run, I would not just use plain araganite, too much phosphate. Go with an actual reactor media, and you will have less algae growth. To further lower phosphates, Soak your media in RO/di water for a couple of days, then use it in your reactor.
