For those that don't know me, my name is Jared and I run a coin shop here in Colorado. I also run a little website propagating and selling live coral. I will be a sponsor here very soon. Anyway back to my story. A local LFS went out of business here a few weeks back and I got a call from the owner "we are closing down so if you want anything get over here". I ran down and purchased as his new tanks and a bunch of other stuff. I contacted my landlord for my other business and rented the space right next door to open up a coral shop.

The yellow door is my existing business and the red one the new coral shop.

And the construction begins. This is the framing for a 24 foot stand to hold frag tanks:

And here we are a few days later all sheeted up painted and clear coated:

Sweet. That's going to be so nice. Hope it will be a fun business for you.
Tagging along to watch it progress.

Included in my purchase from the LFS was a 6 foot frag tank with corals in it. Moving day has come so we drained it down into barrels and threw it in a back of a pickup and we were off. Here it is before I start re-plumbing it.

I can see the sign on the front of the building NOW.

So 2 days into having this tank in the new shop the landlord saw condensation in the windows and freaked out. I offered to get get an air exchanger, and dehumidifier... and it was a total no go. Long story short I had to get out. I was so deflated.

I checked out other retail space and couldn't find any that suited out needs. So the decision was made to move to the house for now until the right space becomes available. I already have 2 frag tanks and a DT at the house. I cleared out a room and called an electrician. The room I was going to turn into the frag room didn't have the electrical capability so I put the electrician to work.
Fuse box was full up but we found a 20A circuit that was only pulling 1 amp so we pulled a line to the front of the house from that.

Next became the task of ripping the 24 foot stand apart to turn it into smaller stands.

Here is an 8 foot section we were able to cut off the end and turn into a stand alone stand. The tank below it is a standard 125 gal which will be our sump for the tanks in here. Meanwhile the 6 foot FT is still running at the store.

And a few days later we have baffles in the sump ready to go. Fuge on left, return in center, and drain and skimmer section on right. And yes it did take a few beers to get us to this level.

Here we were able to cut off another 8 foot section of the stand at the shop and modify it as another stand alone stand:

The stands are also braced to the walls (which are brick):

And making water like crazy to get the new sump full.

This last Saturday was moving day. Had to get the frag tank out of the shop so the landlord could calm down. Drained everything down and using a truck and van we were off. It took about 8 hours to do the move, re-plumb, and get things running.

Here we have the tank and lights, sump with fuge which we will light on a reverse lighting cycle. Return section in the middle and drain and skimmer section on the right. I am going to run a pair of skimmers and I'm waiting on a part but I'll end up having a large ASM skimmer in their as well replacing one of smaller skimmers in the sump. You can also see a black rock fuge, in this we have a DSB and a slew of LR along with a lot of flow. It is on wheels and pulls out if somebody want to buy some LR. Because of this it is not hard plumbed to the sump. It has a 4' PC lighting fixture above it and will run in cycle with the tank. To the right of that we have the ATO bucket. This pic was taken Saturday but the water is all clear now.

Right now I have 2 more frag tanks full of corals to move it but I need to get the calc reactor up and running on this system first then I will get them moved and plumbed into the system as well. And that brings us up to where we are today.

Wow I'm seeing a lot of WA people on here. Grew up in Federal Way and also lived in Bonney Lake. My family still lives in Federal Way.
