Well just another day in the life of an old reefer. Got a box of clams in today so i scope a few and dropped the balance to Paul to flog. Anyway I have them all in little containers (no lids) and in a styrofoam box filled half way with water, paying attention to make sure the little fellows are all safe and stuff. Well I get home and the wife has taken my parking spot , so I park on the hill and jump out, go around to the other door on the truck.Ever so carefully I remove the box and lift it out of the truck. I lean on the door to close it when I almost step on the cat, I jump slightly and the door swings open and hits my arm......Yes the styrofoam box immediatly shatters and all the clams go flying down the driveway...........Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh....Eight clams roling head over mantels down the damm driveway.. I chase them down the road shoveling them into my coat pockets and inside my coat...run to the tank room and do a slide down the hill.....AAAAAAHHHHHhhhh. One clam died immediately.. but it was nice enough to leave a small amount of its shell in one of my ribs...Anyway I get up and get inot the pump room, to find out that the wind storm from last night has blown my inwindow fan into the room and into my 55 gallon kalk drum......Who needs magnetic stirers, lol. Thank God it unluged on the way down...Anyway got the calms in the tank and they seem to be doing very well...well except for one...which I will keep close to my heart...literally....
SO I am going to be giving a talk on clam acclimation techniques next week for anyone interested, lol
Just another day
