Thinking about starting over

Hmm...I don't know man...The thing with some algae is you turn off the lights for a few weeks and it subsides and you think it is gone and so you fire back up the lights, if you have one little spore in there it is quite possible and almost inevitable that it will begin to spread again if the conditions are right. I'm not trying to scare you, but I've experienced it before. I use to take all of my rocks out of the tank and scrub them endlessly until there wasn't any sign of algae on it and a week later, I'd be back to where I was! If the "problem" or whatever is fueling the algae isn't addressed, then you won't get anywhere. If you want to wait it out, then give it a shot. I know you have been fighting this for a while and it seems to be getting worse, but I'm sure there may be some things you haven't tried yet that may help. Hope you get it worked out:)

I had a hair algae break out during a 4 month tank swap. It was getting out of control. I bought two mollies. They where pretty good algae eaters. I also bought a lawnmower blenny. He was another good algae eater. What helped the most is when I started filling my new tank. I was taking water from my old system almost daily. The excessive water changes really did a number on the algae. In a matter of weeks the algae turned white and started falling apart. The corals did not suffer a bit. Since completing the tank swap I haven’t had any algae problems and the new mollies and blenny are doing great. Not sure if this would help with the "bush" :) Never had that one before.

hair algae, I got ride of that in the first couple of months,ANd i wish i had that stuff still. it was so much eazyer to deal with.

This Bryopsis corticulans is bad news. Krish is right the only way im gonna be able to get rid of it, is to remove its fuel.......

Is it safe to do a bunch of water changes? like 3 small 3 or 4 gallon water changes a day till its gone...

Yeah you can do water changes like that. I know someone here that has a reef setup and does about 100% water change a week:eek: So long as your make up water is right (same temp, salinity, no nitrates, no phosphates etc) you should be fine:)

rgr, IM GONNA WIN!!!.

Im not gonna let this bush kick my azz..

Im about 5 min away from lights on so im gonna take a pic and post it

show everyone what im up ageaints

Not sure if you answered this yet (my head is kinda bad sometimes :p ) but have you tested your make up water for phosphates and nitrates?

hmmmm not lately would it be detected as TDS? ill test right now

nope, shes clean no2 no3 are 0 and phospates are undetectbul (seachem)

one more question,

what does "rinesing" your frozen food intail?

Basically defrosting it out in ro/di water and not tossing in all the nasty water that drains off of it. Atleast that's what I use to do when using frozen blood worms for my Discus:)

what i do is put it in a little glass container On a slant. so that as it defrosts the nasty defrost water goes to one side, then i scrape it up and chuck it in

Yeah...Once it isn't soaked in regular tap water and you don't toss all the "juice" in you should be fine. :)

wait a min red tap water???? put it in a cup let it defrost then its all over the place, and then strain it out?

I use to put my frozen food in fine net and then pour the ro/di water on it which means all the nasty water would drain through the net and into the sink leaving behind just the food:)

Krishant is right with the rinsing... it's really important.
I used to dump my frozen food in the tank without rinsing and algae would grow really really fast.
Have you tried using twicers/pickers (you know those little thingys that, us women use for the eye brows :p) and then once you're changing your water, save some of that old water and put it in a big bucket, then put your green rock in there :D and start picking the plant with the twicers or whatever the heck they're called :p. Trust me it works, i had caulerpa for about 2 years until someone here told me to do it this way and i haven't seen caulerpa for a year :D ....... also dont' forget to brush your rocks... tooth brushes should be considered everyone's best friends :D:p.

right on, im gonna be better at washing the brine, i understand why now.

I just soaked some in a glass dish with ROdi water, and strained it, adding more RO straining, i see what it looks like now.

so i think it will start to reside after these series of water changes and new feeding technic'

thanks guys ill let ya all know what happens in a few days
