"Their great if you need the insurance money." LOL Liz mine is exactly the same as your link, I must have the indoor model

Coralife Power Centers have caused many fires, If anyone saw how bad they actually burn I can't see how they even sell them still. It might be that they quietly resolved the issues without advertising it to save on lawsuits but I'd consider the HD timers, anything like the $11 one to the fancy digitals will work well. The little one that isn't rated HD I'd not use that on lights or larger items, these things are too cheap not to skimp on.

You guys ever hear of a timer called The Light Wave? I have one sitting on a shelf. If built to handle larger loads. FE water pumps, MH.

these are what i am talking about.Dont know if they will wrk but i think they.I was going to as about them to before i went and bought them but since we are already talking about timers what the heck.

they also had a 15amp one but didnt see a difference in them asnd they were the same price. They are also $2 at the store

Did they have the lighted ones with a grounded outlet?

Those would probably work just fine - basically its just a relay releasing the power to the plug - so get one with the features you want and one that looks appealing to you - as long as it is grounded you are peachy. And with most off the shelf timers you will want to incorporate a GFCI breaker somewhere up the line.

I would also look closely at how it is made and think about how dust and creep will affect it - thats where the fires come from - salt creep getting where it doesnt need to be, rusting connections, screws and everything else...

The tighter and more enclosed the better! I actually am using out outdoor type timer for gardens that has yet to show too much crud build up or rust, much better than the coralife ones I've had in the past.
