Im setting up my 55 gallon tank to house my Tiny Clown trigger. How much live rock can I get away with in the tank? I want minimal rock. I want him to be my show fish so only he is gonna be in it. I will eventually build a refugium for his tank. He is only an inch and a half. He is my second clown, My first one went into my fowl tank and he got sucked into a powerhead.

ps. As he gets bigger I will get him a bigger tank. He looks so tiny in my 10 gallon, I wont be able to find him in the 55.

Good luck on keeping a baby clown trig

how long has your tank been up for??
did you qt the fish

seeing as he is just a baby clown hes gonna be pretty shy and timid if hes like most ( all have different personalities ) when hes first introduced to the tank he gonna look around and find his place of peace, and if some one is all up on the tank watching him look for his place he may want to kind of stray away from his mission and retreat to the nearest hiding place!!!

me myself personally i would think of the fish first and how to suit him, and just because he is a show fish does not mean he will always want to be shown, i think you should provide him with as much lr as possible, and when he is comfortable enough to be shown he will come out and say what up!

alot of lr will help your tank out in the long run also because of the natural bio filtration and all that

what other kind of filter do you have

if you havent had you tank up long i would not reccomend getting a a baby clown trig, they have a high mortality rate

i went through 4 of them in a month no im sorry 3 thats like 150 bucks man

the best i can give if you dont listen to my advice and you get 1 any way which is exactly wgat i did when people told me know is qt that little sucker for about 4 weeks and hypo him, even if he looks healthy in the store dosent mean that he will look good when you add him to your water

there immune systems are very weak at this age and there very likely to get ick amongst other things..

good luck any more ???s please ask me

and please always think of the fish 1st, not what you want it for, cause alot of the time in the salt water world the fish can do the exact opposite of what you want!!!!

good luck!!!

He is still in Qt tank. Its been two weeks already and he eats alot. I feed him many types of food. I will hypo him soon. Thanks trillyen.

oh i think youll be ok then

just at the least provide him with some hiding places while he is young, and as he get older you can remove it if you would want to just try not to mess with any area where he sleeps at at night and his fav places, and you shoulkd be fine!!!

He started to show signs of MI on his tail and fins. Before I got a chance to hypo him he suddenly died the next morning. Rip LIl Clown.
No more lil fishes for me no matter how cute they are. To think I almost bought a tiny humu humu.

Are tiny clowns really that sensitive? Mine eats like a little pig. He even eats nori. He doesn't hide at all almost. What's the biggest cause for them dying?

How long have you had him for? Did he breakout with anything since you had him? Mine was eating great until his last day.

why qt him if hes gonna be the only fish in the tank?

becuase you cant treat for any ick or anything with live rock in the tank, and its just a good precaution to practice, and he may change his mind later on or the thing may die, and he may decide to go with another fish because of the mortality rate of these fish!!

i would just hypo the fish after monitoring him for a few weeks in the qt tank, but if no signs of anything i guess there would be no need to

i think you should never put a new fish in the main display

EVER
