Is there such thing a to many clams? I mean in terms of heath not looks.
I have have one Squamosa (sp?) that likes to be up against a Dersa, the mantles touch slightly. Will this be a problem later? One more, my three larger clams 7" are growing pretty quick each of them will run out of space at about 12" (shell). About how long will it take them to outgrow my tank, I want to keep these beauties as long as possible.

Thanks
Don

Clams can be packed shell to shell so to speak. When used for a filtration system that is how they are placed. Different species of Tridacna reach very different sizes. Tridacna clams slow their growth considerable at about 75-80% of their maximum size. For example a T. derasa will outgrow a T. gigas at first but they slow way down at 14-15" (7-8 years). The T. gigas then catches and passes it.

HTH,
Kevin
