Did some cleaning and swapped out the t5's below for the old sunpod

im placing two D120's led fixtures over the tank tonight... they will be hung..

im also thinking that ill be able to ditch the cooling fan... although i wont be so fast to do that... not until its hot out, hot in the house.. and the ac isnt on

the fan only runs when the tank hits 80.8 and shuts off at 79.9 but the tank stays at 80.1 unless the room temp goes over 77

I took the hanging kit from the sunpod.. and i welded the ends together that actually go in to the sunpod it self... It was aluminum

Ive tied it off as well...

Nope...
also dont check my salt.. havnt tested in years... and only do a few water changes a year..

the first pic is full power
the 2nd is with no blue..
the 3rd is all blue no white..

So your going to turn them on full power and let her rip?

So why pay extra for new lights you can control if you don't care about what might happen? I have a led light pod with only on off control I will trade you...

No its not on full blast... She aint ripping yet... just matched to what i had b4.. prob stay there.. This wasnt a upgrade.. This was a simple change of consumption

Best advice i can give is keep your hands out of the tank... If you know what i mean?

just cause you can control them doesn't mean you need to...
my height is adjustable, they are running at 75% give or take.. (matched by eye to my last lights)

If you just matched them visually to how bright your tank used to be with your old lighting I'm afraid you may do some serious damage with these new lights. LED's have a LOT more punch than T5 or MH in the same intensity levels to our eyes. You can burn your corals in minutes if you aren't carefully acclimating them. I would advise turning them way down and very slowly (over weeks and weeks) ramping them up to the brightness you, or more importantly, your corals want them to be. Just my .02

Just as a example, I had 3 x 250 watt mh and 4 x 160 VHO on my 240.
I upgraded to three 130 watt led fixtures and ran a four week acclimation program starting at 35% total power.
They are now set at 65%. I'm probally not going any higher.
If you are jumping in at 75%, you will most likely burn your corals.

Starting a new tank with LED is easy.
Transitioning from MH/T5 to LED is challenging IMO. Way too easy to destroy corals as some acclimate faster than others and some start off with too strong of a light after the transition.

Good luck.

Not bad... good lights... only negative would be the hanging kit that came "included" not much of a hanging kit... i had to weld up some stuff and fabricate the other half... but it looks good now

Looks pretty good.

Yeah, trying to hang any kind of lights can be difficult at times.
But it is kind of nice when they are free floating over the tank, which gives great access into the top of it.

LEDs have a lot of punch, with a specific range of spectral output. Blues and whites both peak at 460nm. Not acclimating your Corals will build up an excessive amount of algae in the tissue, which will brown everything out.
