I have a 29 gal tank with 2 55 w pc and soon one 150w mh its about 9 watts per gallon. Does this sound ok ?

Sounds fine. You can loose the pc's, the halide is going to cook the bulbs anyways.

Don

I agree with Don...You won't need the PC's anymore anyways unless you want to use them for supplemental lighting and if so, you will need to isolate them in a sense away from the MH's because they won't last next to them. :)

the pc's might look alright if they are actinics and you want a little bluer look to the tank!!!

I want to do something like this with a single 175w 10k and a single 32w PC actinic. What kind of temps should I expect. Dont want to use a chiller. this is for a 29g 30"x12"x18"

Ya I am using a current usa 14k 150 w it just seems dim to me but I think it is my reflector

That or the spectrum of the bulb. There was a night and day difference in my tank (and even the living room!) between a 12K Reeflux bulb and a 10K XM bulb! The 10K makes it look like I don't have a roof on my place and the sun is beaming! and the 12K looked like moonlights in comparison and they were both 250w bulbs used on the same tank, reflector and ballast:)

I was thinking it was the bluer spectrum. Last set up I had I used 10k 150 w bulbs and they seemed a lot brighter. I plan on using my pc bulbs in the hood as well. I am going to mount the MH on top of the canopy so the reflector housing itself is on the out side to aid in heat problems. I just like the whole tank to look lit uniformly I hate it when it looks like you have darker areas.
