i dont lie,,,i simply say ill get rid of everything and go out to bars and spend $$ on booze and women,,,,next thiing you know, she says "you know you could get a bigger tank."

How about "you know preventive care is getting a bigger tank so your corals don't send out tentacles and harm each other."

Or "you know my corals are getting so big I need a bigger tank because you can't frag these types of corals!"

she recently asked me, have you ever thought of downsizing?? I chuckled and said 'no actually, Never have I thought that, as a matter of fact..............since were on the subject.............. a 6 foot tank wont take up much more room then the 4 footer, its only two more feet!!!!!!

Too funny. Mine is actually a truth, but I use it often - "You see....the larger the tank I get, the more stable it becomes, and I can use everything in this tank for the bigger one!" or "you want me to have interests don't you? I need something to stimulate my brain rather than Dora the Explorer"

 too funny....my kid loves that show...if I have to hear the "We Did It" song one more time.....

my latest... "Honey you remember the big rock that was covered with mushroom corals that you told me I could buy? Well... there was a RBTA that got attached in one of the holes in the rock and we couldn't get it to come loose so I had to buy it with the rock and when we took it out the maroon clown that was hanging out in it started beating himself against the glass so I had to buy him also or he would have killed himself. But the good news is that they gave me the insulated box to bring it home in at no additional charge."

If you are reading this honey.. it is all true.

Part of the fun is sneaking around. :)

Actually my hubby is the one who has to be kept under control. He spends more on my hobby than I do sometimes.

He has his toys and I have mine....we don't ask. LOL

Though I have to admit I "forgot" to include a few items in the initial start-up costs when I got my first tank. ;)

Alice: I agree with your way of thinking.

My husband says if the money is in the checking account then it is "married money" that we both circle until one of us falls asleep and loses.

wrassehole: You know those insulated boxes are very useful. I think the salesmen told me that I could use it for picnics or a dozen other things.
