I will be setting up my first trigger tank here soon..and I am curious if I can put in gobies..the larger ones such as a good size dragon goby or ones such as that to sift sand...? Will the triggers munch them?

I know people that have triggers with sand stars and some large tangs and angels..but would like to know your input from here.
thanks

Misty

What kind of triggers are you planning on using?

Certain ones are more aggressive than others. For example Clown Triggers, Which are extremely aggressive(i have seen them try to bite people as they walk ast the tank). Then there are less aggressive trigers like the Niger Trigger, This is a very peaceful trigger(as a matter of fact i have one and i still have all of my hermit crabs and snails still alive). Also just for a side note i keep the niger with a green mandarin and a clown goby and an eingineer goby and they seem to get along just fine. I would imagine that you would be okay as long as you stuck with lesser aggressive triggers. Just tell us which ones you are interested in and we can help you choosing the less aggressive ones.

What Nick asks is quite relavent. Not only does species matter but tank size, eventual tank mates and the basic set up/direction of the tank.

Hi.
Its a 6ft 125 gallon.
I am looking at a huma trigger, niger trigger, undulated trigger and a vtailed grouper...so far..

No gobies then, in fact I would skip the Niger & Huma as well. The Undulated is one of the nastiest triggers going. The Huma is not that far behind it. It is usually quite difficult to keep other fish with Undulateds let alone another trigger. You really should consider that one for a tank of it's own, not mixed with potential food.

What would you all recommend for a good mix? I am wanting triggers, groupers...any large tangs?? in a 125..
thanks for the input..

A 125 is not going to hold as much as you might think. The Niger, VTail and a tang would work but not "multiples".

Cheers
