This is like being in 9th grade and having two super models enter the classroom in bikinis and asking for comment :) lol (Okay I'm not THAT sick)

Fist off Dang they are georgous. I don't know enough about classifications to give you a scientific comparrison but it does appear to me they may be in different flow areas. The right has a much broader branching growth pattern leading me to think it is in a higher flow area.

The corallites are very differently shaped as well though. I have had the corralites of frags changes shape as they grew into a colony but these two appear to have very differnt shapes in general.

Dang,
They are both about to die and you should bring them to me right away
Here are some of the pictures I took of Dang's tank last week. Hope you enjoy them as much as I did :)

Regards,
Kevin

Dang - WOW! Those torts are stunning. Hopefully I'll get to see your tank in person some day.

dang,
I agree with Kevin. They are dreadfully ill, and you should frag them and send them off to needy reefers like me. :) :) j/k
Hopefully my next trip to Seattle I can get to see your tank and chow down at the same time. I think it could be a highlite for me.

I've got a 50-50 chance here, sooooooooooo, left is Oregon and right is the cali. That is probably a terrible guess, but I could always turn it around. :D :D It's real early and I haven't had a drop of coffee yet!!!!

i've seen them live, and the tort on the right does look a little different than a cali tort. especially the branching and color wise, arent the cali's suppose to have more green in them like an ora tort? at least the couple i've seen have.
mabye we should call it the tamarind tort!! :)

umm,,,tamarind tort ??,,i start to like the name or ready(paul H is that name sound right to you?),,,keep on coming guy,,and thanks for compliment.

If you're talking about the one next to the tank picture, it is Acropora aculeus. It came out of the Solomon Islands in 1997 from Bob Mankin. I bought 9 or so corals from him. They came in on small cement disks. Too bad they had a civil war or I would have a lot more of them.

Regards,
Kevin

I think those corals need to go to Southern Part of Washington. I recognize this happening to a another Reefer. I think its the Tort that ate my brain syndrome. They just need trimmed a little in the Southern or Dryer part of the State of Washington and seem to get a lot better. You would be amazed at the smiles they create..
Good luck, Hope they get better soon
Ed

thanks Dang , your tank blows these pics away, everyone should stop by to see your tank!!!! and i think that tort in the right pic , is a((Dangs Blue Tort))
