Tunze Wavebox

I watched the wavebox at IMAC last June. It is neat. The only thing I didn't like was that you need to use an optical sensor to watch for overflowing waves. There is a possibility of a build up of wave resonance that could cause the waves to get larger and larger and then overflow the tank. The optical sensor (like Tunze uses with the Osmolator setup) shuts the wavebox off temporarily when this starts to occur.

I wonder if this thing would prove to be hard on glass aquariums? 100% pure silicone rubber is said to be able to stretch a percentage of its thichness thousands of times without breaking but, with this wave pressure alternating back and forth, over and over, I would worry. Plexi should tolerate this better I would think, with less risk of overflow if the tank had a full cap like many factory made plastic tanks do.R2

acrylic tanks would withstand this type of motion as long as glue could stand the pressure, that is acrylics one weakness. glass would have to be thicker than normal cause the scratches and scores on glass would make it vunerable.

I saw this a while back, I wonder if you can control the wave motion, this way it woun't have to be as strong as that, I would use it then.

it would think on an intermatic timer would be great or some type of electrical delay would be the way to go.

They hook up to the multi-controller ... so you could have it on for only periods of a day ... or less powerful for periods.

Saw it at IMAC too ... really looks great and a good solution/tool for some tanks. Needed? No.
