two skimmers yes or no

You probably don't need it IMO. The remora should do the job and is showing to be doing the job...Just my 2 cents. BTW, was there supposed to be a link???

Skilters are fairly inefficient, especially compared to a Remora. Generally speaking if the tank is a rather small water volume (-100 gal) they would compete with each other for nutrient, lowering overall efficiencey if skimming from the same tank. ie.. both on the display as apposed to one on the display and one in the sump. In your case though I think it's just a matter of the rabbit and the hare... :p

Cheers
Steve

toss the skilter, well keep it for backup, your just wasting electricty with it running. The remora will skim circles around it anyway.

i was thinking that, just needed a boost, my thoughts where the skilter filter part would get any large items floating around, but i rember that with my set all of the large stuff collects in the front front for easy removal...also the per filter and carbon mat filters would just collect unwanteds...

krisk, sorry about that, i havent found how to copy and past on here yet,

LOL...No problem. Maybe you can use the skilter on a quarantine tank if you don't have a quarantine tank yet. Since you have the skilter, you may be able to use it there...

While in general, using two skimmers can work well and compliment each other, in your particular circumstance the Skilter is unlikely to do anything.

i will remove it, and see what happens.....thanks... btw on the wet vs dry skimate issue,
this is what steve at aqua c said,If you are pulling out more water than you'd like, I would raise the cup to collect a drier foam. It sounds like you are removing lots of wastes, but maybe more diluted than you'd like. I prefer collecting a slightly wet foam, which will collect a bit more waste without removing a lot of water. Thanks again, and let me know if you have any other questions or comments.
