Uncommon Algae Growth

Well I am having some weird algae growth. I was thinking it was Diatoms but my tank is about a year old.

It seems to be a little more fuzzy than normal. It is dark brownish color. Its on glass and starting to cover the rocks.

Any suggestions on what it is and what is causing it?

Still could be diatoms. Differdnt algaes have differing cycles and can show up at anytime. Pics will help to determine.

This sounds familiar to something I had show up in my tank... I'll wait for pics to confirm. But mine went away after about a month.

Again, pics will help the most. Try your best to get a macro shot, and from different angles. I've seen all sorts of brown algae. Also, you can't rule out a diatom bloom either...have you added any new plastics to your tank recently? A frag rack, new pump, etc?

Nothing Changed and I have been at college but will get pictures tomorrow. Hopefully its not to bad when I get home!
