I want to start by saying that I have been reading your site for months and really appreciate all the great information you provide.

I am now stumped and can't find any information anywhere on the Vila Fairy Wrasse. I know they come from the waters of Vanutua.

I broke my own rule (research before buying) but these were just to beautiful to pass up. I purchased a male and female.

Can anyone point me in a direction so I know how to care for them. They are in my 500 gallon tank with SPS, LPS, clams, etc. I am hoping they don't require really speciality feeding. I paid an arm and a leg for them, but they are truely worth every penny.

Anyone have any information on these fish?

Thank you in advance for any help.

Thank you Jeff.

There wasn't much information as to their care there, but I wrote to Bob Fenner (wetwebmedia.com) and he couldn't give me much information either. He requested a picture as he has yet to see this fish, much less the male and female. As soon as they come out, I will post pictures. The one of the site suggested wasn't near as striking as they are.

If you're interested, I can keep everyone updated as I find information

Please do, and if you find a picture and some info about it, let's get it into our fish library :)

Neither, there's a new store over in the Gresham area. They brought in 2 pairs, I purchased one. They also brought in a pair of Watanbe Angels. They are very pretty. I couldn't pass up the wrasses.

They were out last night eating a bit, but couldn't get close to the tank to take a picture....they darted under the rocks. I'll keep trying

"Vila Fairy Wrasse" is called by the collector/ shipper in Port Vila, Vanuatu.

It is not a new species but one of the variations of Cirrhilabrus punctatus; males with brownish body with a distinct yellowish green stripe on upper side. The variant comes also from New Caledonia.

The species is variably colored and there are several morphs in the single species, but I suspect that the variation from New Caledonia and Vanuatu is a subspecies.
